Joelle Arqueros

"I began studying love at 17 by walking Sunset Blvd to Hollywood High School every day in the late eighties. Not exactly a princess story. After graduating, I was looking for something a bit more romantic so I moved to Brooklyn for more research in hopes of quenching a long obsession with John Travolta’s character, Tony Manero in “Saturday Night Fever”. I needed to know, “How deep is your love really?”

"I ended up at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and moved to Manhattan. I began writing and directing plays about love and the dark roles I’d witnessed women and men forced to play in various social situations. They were produced at Bob Moss’ Playwrights’ Horizons. “Sex, Relationships… and Sometimes Love” was born and went on to a sold out run, in the heart of New York’s Times Square at the Show World Theatre, located immediately above a thriving burlesque arcade on 2003."
